Beautiful, purebred chestnut Arabian mare, Rose, was 17 years old when her previous owner gave her away. When the pandemic hit California in 2020, she got a torn ligament on the front left lower leg and was limping. During the healing time, she stayed at a tiny closed about 10ft wide shack. The vet said Rose might not be able to ride at all if the injury worsens, and she needs at least three months of rehabilitation. She couldn’t ride, so the owner wanted to have a horse for riding and going to trails. In her youth years, Rose used to compete in endurance racing. She loves movement and wants to run up any hill she encounters. Typical for Arabian, Rose gets spooked by her own shadow or stepping on a crunchy rock. Her spooks are funny though. Usually, a horse takes off running for their life, but Rose, like in a cartoon, jumps up spreading her four legs. Before going off to races, she bore two foals. Their fate is unknown, but Rose comes from a reputable Arabian breeder in California and gave birth to two babies before moving on to competing. Rose teaching a lesson at Indian Hills Ranch in Mountain View, California. I was searching for a place to lease a horse when I came across Rose’s listing. She was in Mountain View, California at Indian Hills Ranch. I came to see her at the ranch, and from that point, I knew she is my horse. I felt her gentle, graceful, descriptive, and kind spirit. I signed the paperwork, had the vet check her, and started daily rehabilitation procedures. Fun trip: In the summer of 2020, California fires went wild, and Rose evacuated south to another barn in Gilroy. The ligament took about three months to heal. In September 2020 the vet approved the riding, and we started slow by walking and teaching kids how to ride. It was COVID pandemic, so the masks were enforced. A few months later, Rose and I traveled to Reno NV for a business trip the following spring and kept teaching lessons there. Right away we met Gaby, the wild one, at the ranch down the street.
